I’m an accredited reflux expert

I am an Accredited Reflux Expert with Digestion with Confidence.

What does that mean for you?

Firstly it means that if you have temporarily been put on a PPI, a proton pump inhibitor such as Omeprazole by your GP you need a strategy to wean off it.

Why?

Because after 3 days of using a PPI, you are more than likely to have rebound acid reflux symptoms when you try to remove it.

That is because the PPI blocks the signals that make stomach acid.

But when you stop the PPI all those backed-up signals go ‘ WAY HEY we’re here!! and like a dam busting they increase the amount of stomach acid you make beyond your normal level. This means that for a while the rebound symptoms can be worse than before.

At this point, most people go back on the PPI and the cycle goes on and on and on.

Is this you?

You need to be committed to removing the PPI and that means lifestyle changes.

Maybe not forever but for 5-6 months at least.

What is the problem with a PPI I hear you ask.

The problem with PPIs is that because they reduce stomach acid they can cause your gut microbiome to go out of balance.

You need stomach acid, if you didn’t your body wouldn’t make it.

Stomach acid is part of the digestive process, it converts food into chyme, which is the liquid nutrients that drip into your small intestines.

Your body extracts nutrients from the chyme.

Do you have food particles in your poo? yes, you need to LOOK.

It’s not disgusting, well it might be if you’ve had 4 beers and a curry.

But your poo tells you a lot about the health of your gut.

Food particles can mean you are not chewing and bolting your food. You aren’t extracting all the valuable nutrients, Are you fatigued?

Food particles could mean you don’t have enough stomach acid to break down the food, Again are you fatigued? constipated? bloated?

Stomach acid is essential for the body to absorb B12 properly. If you are deficient in B12 you may be suffering from fatigue, anaemia, or pernicious anaemia.

Stomach acid protects you against pathogens, microbes, and non-beneficial bacteria. If your stomach acid is low you are more likely to have dysbiosis and an imbalance in beneficial and non-beneficial bacteria.

Symptoms for this can be, diarrhoea, uncontrollable urgency to go, skin issues such as adult acne, hormone imbalance, stomach pains, and cramping and bloating.

So when you are ready to finally sort out your acid reflux and want help removing your PPI, contact me

This is what I’m trained for.
